Miami

Water so clear you can see to the bottom

Hundred thousand dollar cars, everybody got em.

   – Miami lyrics by Will Smith

I love Miami.  I have never been to Miami, but I love it just the same.  My first real taste for the place came from watching the television show Miami Vice.  My God, the percussion beat of that theme music.  The go-go girls, the palm trees, the greyhounds, the speedboats, the jai alai, the Ferarris, the Armani jackets, the white modernist cube houses, the sockless shoe look.  The mood is set from the beginning.  Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that scene?  Miami feels exciting, dangerous, and fast.  No room for slackers in this town.

Two movies that make it all the more desirable as a destination:  The Specialist and The Birdcage.  Sylvester Stallone and Sharon Stone do more to heat up that city that any heat wave worth talking about.  Robin Williams and Nathan Lane make South Beach your home as well as your fantasy.  I’m now tuned in to CSI Miami, even though I’ve heard that it’s shot in L.A.  Just give me those palm trees, those high-rise condos, and that long stretch of coastal sand, and I’m in.

Party in the city where the heat is on/All night on the beach till the break of dawn.

Welcome to Miami
Buenvenidos a Miami
Bouncin in the club where the heat is on
All night, on the beach till the break of dawn
I’m goin to Miami
Welcome to Miami

Later, Crockett.
